Private brokerage

A private brokerage in the sale of a work of art, especially one of some importance, is often the best solution for all parties.
Our brokerage cost is agreed upon in relation to the art asset to be sold and its economic value is approximately 10% of the selling price and is paid by the buying party. Sales time, thanks to our portfolio of major buyer customers, is usually fast.

All additional services such as insurance and transportation are included in the established fee, and in case of no sale, there is no cost to be borne by the customer.
The confidentiality with which the art object reaches private collectors as well as institutional collectors, with the advantage of making a purchase away from the spotlight and without going through the noisy antiques market, is one of the key factors that allows us to achieve important results with this mode of sale.

Auctions

Not all objects get the best result from an auction sale, many need more reserved routes, and others do not get the right financial recognition at auction because the buyer pool consists mainly of antiquarians.

But selling at auction could still be the right solution in some cases, and it is crucial to have the support of a professional who knows all the ins and outs.

First, assess whether the art asset in question can achieve a sufficiently profitable outcome that merits the risk of unsold (a disgrace that severely penalizes an art asset in today’s market). And most importantly, that the reasonably expected result, justifies the high sales commissions of auction houses (seller commission 10/15%, buyer commission 25/30% plus insurance, catalog and transportation costs with a total cost around 40/50% of the value of the asset sold).

Fabbrini Arte has been working with the most serious national and international auction houses for decades, and if our staff assesses the auction sale of your art asset as advantageous, we will act as an interface between the parties.

We know and have close relationships with all departments and put our experience at your service to get the most out of these established relationships. First and foremost, through our collaborative arrangements, we are able to substantially reduce commission rates. In addition, our knowledge and continuous contacts with departmental managers enables us to support them with our boards and expertise that will give your item more feedback.

International auction houses such as Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Bonhams and Phillips certainly achieve better results than the Italian ones, and therefore when we identify auction sale as the best solution, they are our first reference.

Contact us to check with us whether your item has real benefits from auction sale and which auction house is best to work with.
